About the survey: Expedia®, world’s largest full service online travel agency, today released the results of the 2017 Vacation Deprivation® study, an annual survey of vacation habits across multiple countries and continents. The survey ranks India as the 5th most vacation deprived country globally, just after South Korea (82%), France (66%), Malaysia (65%), and Hong Kong (64%). Findings that further corroborate this are 55% Indians take fewer days of the vacation days they get and 28% don’t take leaves as work schedule does not allow for vacation or there are not enough staff to cover. Expedia launches twitter campaign #VacationOnMyMind to counter Vacation Deprivation & encourage work life balance

New Delhi, India– February 6, 2015:The annual Vacation Deprivation Survey, which acted as the inspiration for the #VacationOnMyMind Twitter Campaign suggested that workaholic Indians are mostly deprived for holidays, placing India as the fourth most vacation deprived nation globally with 67% of Indians saying they feel very or somewhat vacation deprived. The survey also reveals that 64% of Indians who feel vacation deprived say their vacation deprivation stems from not getting enough vacation days, while 36% say their deprivation stems from not taking all of their vacation days. Indians are increasingly choosing to take multiple short vacations, than a longer one and disconnect with work. Read more
